Black Leopards must beat Hellenic

Sport  Date: 13 September 2002

THOHOYANDOU – Black Leopards must collect maximum points in their all-important Castle Premiership League match against Hellenic. The two teams will battle it out at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.

Leopards must win this match for two reasons, namely to restore their lost pride and to ensure that they stay in the elite league. They lost three matches in a row. They were booted out of the prestigious BP Top 8 KO Competition by Santos, before losing 1-2 to both Lamontville Golden Arrows and African Wanderers in PSL league matches.

Losing their match against Hellenic will be a clear indication that Leopards are paving their way down to the lower division.

It will be the last match for Leopards to play without their Swaziland international, Sibusiso Dlamini. Dlamini was given marching orders in their BP Top 8 match against Santos last month.

The match is scheduled to start at 15:00.

The two other matches that will be played on the same day are Jomo Cosmos vs African Wanderers and Moroka Swallows vs Orlando Pirates. The Pirates and Swallows match will be screened live on television. Two matches will be played at various venues tonight. Manning Rangers will meet Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban while Ajax Cape Town will play against Wits University at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.

Three matches will be played next Wednesday, September 18. Supersport United and Moroka Swallows will play at the Ellispark Stadium, Bush Bucks and Santos will meet at the Absa Stadium in East London and Dynamos will pay a visit to Sundowns at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
