The rehearsal match between Nobela All Stars and Rospa United at the Lesly Manyathela Stadium in Musina ended in a 4-2 victory for All Stars.
The fans enjoyed high quality football from the onset. Both sides created scoring opportunities in the opening minutes, but their strikers were unlucky. All Stars were the first to come close to scoring. Their former Vhembe FC striker, Bornwise Molobo, could not believe his eyes when his volley went a little wide in the 14th minute. As if that was not enough to stir up the team’s enthusiastic supporters, Napoleon Masebe committed a similar blunder moments later. Masebe won the ball in a scramble within the box and shot wide, with the keeper already beaten.
United introduced Nelson Baloyi for Musa Nkondo in the 25th minute. They then started to play their normal brand of football, with their midfielders distributing telling passes to the strikers. The referee, Ms Lufuno Nemagovhani, reprimanded Rine Phaswana of All Stars with a card four minutes before break for a rough tackle.
Stars later replaced Bornwise Molobo and Grocer Mashele with Jayjay Hlungwani and Charles Mothathana respectively. Another Stars’ player, Ben Hlungwani, was also booked for a late tackle to Oscar Silima late in the game.
No goal was seen in the regulation time and the winner was determined through penalty shoot-out. All Stars converted four through Nhlapo Zakhele, Vusi Phiri, Dakalo Ratshitanga and Charles Mothathana while Oscar Silima and Velly Mashele scored the two for United.
