Lovers FC and United in thrilling draw

Sport  Date: 21 September 2012

In their SAB League match which was played at the Musina Lesley Manyathela Stadium on Sunday, Lovers FC came back from a 0-2 deficit and held Musina United FC to a 2-2 draw.

Lovers were nowhere to be seen in the first 20 minutes, but United failed to capitalize. Instead, they created numerous scoring opportunities, with their strikers disappointing the fans by shooting aimlessly.

The referee, Mr Christopher Mugeri, warned Memory Macheza of United with a card in the 24th minute, after he tackled Jakie Mogale from behind.

No goal was seen during the first half, despite the fact that United were dictating the terms in all departments.

United replaced Memory Macheza with Fraiza Moyaba nine minutes into the last half. The replacement marked the turning point of the game.

In the 64th minute, United drew blood. Their substitute, Fraiza Moyaba, headed home, following a neat pass from Emmanuel Sebola. United effected two more changes to their starting line-up after the goal. They introduced Canric Phida and George Ngwenya for Emmanuel Sebola and Honest Moyo respectively.

The replacements proved to be a clever move on the part of the technical team. They scored the second goal moments thereafter. Fraiza Moyaba completed his brace when he connected Aubrey Ndou’s square pass to give his side a 2-0 lead.

Lovers did not sit back and relax, despite trailing. They continued to play like a united team, until they pulled one back in the 79th minute via Anderson Mbedzi. As if the final whistle had already been blown, United’s defenders relaxed on the ball within their own danger area. They were severely punished for that. Simbarashe Simba scored the equaliser with a volley in the dying minutes.
