Sibasa All Stars collected maximum points at the expense of Tshivhulani All Stars in their Thulfa League match at the Bergvlam School grounds on Sunday. Sibasa beat Tshifhulani 2-1.
It was evident from the onset that All Stars were going to win the match, as they made the opponents’ keeper to perform overtime in the opening minutes.
All Stars knocked on Young Stars’ door for the first time in the 16th minute. Evans Netshituni unleashed from the edge of the box. The keeper of Young Stars, Chana Matshete, braved the shot and palmed the ball away for a corner kick. Matshete sustained an injury to his right arm while executing the brilliant save. Although it was clear from a distance that Matshete was in great pain after the injury, his technical staff persuaded him to continue with the game, saying there was nobody who could replace him.
Realising that Matshete was in pain, the strikers of All Stars tried their luck by shooting from outside the box. All Stars could not find the net during the first half, despite numerous attempts.
It took All Stars 56 minutes to open their account. Farisani Ramaswiela capitalized on Ofhani Mulovhedzi’s clearing error and scored an easy goal.
Young Stars replaced Takalani Mudzanani and Shandukani Malabi with Murendeni Ravele and Asivhanzhi Nethanani in the 67th minute respectively. All Stars responded by introducing Ndivhuwo Maphula and Tshilidzi Khorommbi for Evans Netshituni and Musiiwa Phalandwa respectively moments thereafter.
All Stars increased the tally in the 74th minute. Murendeni Mudzunga finished off a rebound after the keeper mishandled. Young Stars did not stop fighting, although time was not on their side. They reduced one later in the game via Ntshengedzeni Luruli, who headed home after a corner kick.
