Tshiozwi Dynamos emerged as the winners of the Heritage tournament when they beat Madombidzha Western Stars 7-6 at Madombidzha on Monday.
The winner was determined by a penalty shoot-out. Stars showed a spirit of commitment from the onset and took the game to their opponents from the first whistle. Their efforts paid dividends in the 17th minute, when Pfano Sithagu’s volley left Thendo Sivhishi flat-footed. Mashudu Nengovhela of Dynamos caused an upset a little later when he shot straight to the Stars keeper, Mayala Malange, after receiving a neat pass from inside the box.
Muhangwi Mukosi equalised after he received a square pass from Nyathi Netshiendeulu. The centre half of Dynamos, Tsie Nndwambi, was later booked for tackling Silas Rammbona from behind.
The second goal of Stars came via Percy Munonoka. He received a neat pass from Oscar Ramantswana and sent in a ground cutter.
Dynamos equalised in the 78th minute. Patson Mahanelo forced his way through Stars’ defence and beat the keeper, Mayala Malange, hands down.
The two teams went straight to a penalty shoot-out. Dynamos converted all five their attempts and Stars scored four.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
