A final-minute goal by Sameeng Doutie saw Supersport United share the glory with Black Leopards when they played to a 3-3 draw in their Absa Premiership League match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Although the home side was already 2-0 down 19 minutes into the game, they did not lose hope.
Supersport gained a grip in the ninth minute when their Zambian international, Clifford Mulenga, rounded three Leopards’ defenders from the left touchline and shot straight to Lidoda Duvha’s keeper, Posnet Omony. Mulenga redeemed himself with a perfectly timed run into the box five minutes thereafter and unleashed a powerful shot. The strike found its resting place in the corner of the net to make it 1-0 for Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
Mulenga turned from scorer to the provider four minutes later. His run into the box drew the Leopards goalie out of the penalty area. Instead of trying his luck, Mulenga chose to share his fortune with Mabhudi Khenyeza, who made no mistake.
It took Leopards seven minutes to reply. Raymond Monama beat the Supersport keeper, Ronwen Williams, with a volley and the ball hit the post and bounced back into play. Rodney Ramagalela made use of the chance to bring the half-time score to 2-1.
Leopards came back strongly in the last half, but Williams pulled off some good saves to keep his side ahead. The pressure finally resulted in a goal in the 50th minute. Abbas Amidu unleashed a rocket from the middle of the box to level the score.
Leopards took the lead five minutes later. Tiyani Mabunda headed home from a corner kick. As if the final whistle had already been blown, Leopards relaxed on the ball in the dying minutes of the game. Sameeng Doutie scored the equaliser on the stroke of full time.
