GIYANI – The Premier Soccer League rookies, Dynamos started the season on a high note when they shared the spoils with Manning Rangers in their unevenly contested game played at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban last Friday.
The score was 1-1 when the referee blew the last whistle. Although Dynamos had conceded an early goal, they did not lose their fighting spirit. Rangers' goal was scored two minutes into the game. The "Maulers' " striker, Kerryn Jordaan caught the visitors' defence off guard after receiving a good pass from fellow striker, Alton Meiring.
Though Dynamos had the lion's share in both halves in as far as ball possession is concerned, they lacked a clear-cut final pass that could have helped them gain more than just a point. Rangers could have gone 3-0 up before half time, but their strikers let them down.
Joel Seroba got the equaliser for the Giyani outfit in the 84th minute after he was afforded space to pick his spot. In the other Castle Premiership League matches Moroka Swallows collected full points at the expense of the newcomers, African Wanderers. Swallows won the match 2-0.
The defending league champions, Santos beat Jomo Cosmos 3-2 at the Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg. Jean Marc Ithier, Mxolisi Mchunu and David Notoane scored the three goals for the "Peoples Team", while Cosmos replied via Esau Kanyenda and Sam Magalefa.
