Only a victory will do for Dynamos

GIYANI – Only a victory and nothing less! This is the message from the loyal Dynamos supporters of the Pride of Giyani for their last match of the season, and possibly their last in the Premier Soccer League.

The future of Dynamos as one of the Castle Premiership League affiliates will be decided during their match against Highlandspark Silver Stars on Sunday at the Giyani Stadium. The Giyani outfit must win the match in order to retain their elite league status.

The only way in which they can survive the nasty axe if they lose the match, is if the other relegation candidates, Zulu Royals and Hellenic, drop points as well. Royals and Hellenic are tied with 22 points each, while Dynamos have deposited 24 points in their league account to date.

After realising that the future of the three teams, Zulu Royals, Hellenic and Dynamos, will be decided in their last matches, the league has ordered that their Sunday matches should be played at the same time to avoid possible match fixing.

Hellenic will be playing against Ajax Cape Town at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, while Zulu Royals will undertake a journey to Pretoria, where they will battle it out against Supersport United at the Securicor Stadium. The three matches are scheduled to start at 15:00.

Dynamos will still face the chop if they play to a draw against Silver Stars and if Hellenic and Zulu Royals win theirs, when taking into account the goal difference. Hellenic are likely to escape the chop and prove all critics wrong if their performance in their last two matches is anything to go by. They unexpectedly beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 a fortnight ago, before crushing Lamontville Golden Arrows 4-1 last weekend.

In the other Castle Premiership League matches that will also be played on Sunday, Manning Rangers will host Santos at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban. Orlando Pirates will entertain Jomo Cosmos at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg. Two matches will be played next Wednesday, June 9. Kaizer Chiefs and Wits University will meet at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, while Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates will fight for league points at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
