After beating Dumasi All Stars 2-1 in their SAB League match at home two weeks ago, Vhembe FET College FC continued to collect points last weekend when they beat Mphego Real Rovers by the same margin at the Mphego grounds on Sunday.
As if they were going to give the students a free soccer lesson, Real Rovers were the first to find the net. It took them only nine minutes to blow the trumpet. Fhulufhelo Ralinala forced his way through the defence of Vhembe and showed the keeper, Rhulani Sambo, the wrong way.
The goal was a morale booster to Rovers’ midfielders. They created several dangerous moves from the middle of the park, with the college students chasing the action. Vhembe found the equaliser in the 34th minute. Pfano Rambani beat the keeper with a volley, following a brilliant pass from Rabel Khambana. The score was 1-1 when the teams adjourned for half time.
Real Rovers effected only one change to their starting lineup. They replaced Nyambeni Nemavhola with Langanani Ntshitangani three minutes into the last half.
Vhembe enjoyed possession of the ball for the better part of the last half. Their coach, Mr Livhuwani Manena, revealed his wisdom by introducing Pfunzo Razwimisani and Mulweli Malade for Stanely Matodzi and Rudolph Sithole respectively.
Vhembe took the lead in the 78th minute. Shandukani Sivhaga gave the ball a final touch after a scramble within the box. Stanly Tshidade and Pfano Rambani of Vhembe shared the Man of the Match award and received certificates after the game.
