TSHIFULANANI – Thusano Crystal Palace and Muziafera Blue Eagles are the winners for the northern and western streams of the MMK League respectively. Crystal Palace wrapped up their league activities by beating Tshianelo Anchors 2-1 at the Tshifulanani grounds on Saturday.
The first half was packed with entertainment, despite the fact that there was no goal. Bethuel Dzege, the Anchors' right back, went into the referee's book for an ugly tackle on Mulalo Nevondo. Both sides squandered a number of chances in the opening minutes.
Crystal Palace were the first to effect a change to their starting line-up. They replaced Ntsieni Mathabi with Eric Masala. The struggle continued, with both sides applying all the tricks in the book in search for the much needed goals. Palace were rewarded for their efforts when Jonathan Mudzungwane capitalized on the Anchors' clearing error and blasted in a rocket from the left corner.
Mmbengeni Sithakhi, the Anchors' frontrunner, was warned with a card for a continued argument with the referee. Ntuwiseni "Gento" Godobedzha scored the Anchors' equalizing goal in the 70th minute. The keeper of Crystal Palace, Given Madzivhandila, palmed the ball back into the field of play and Godobedzha, who was in the perfect scoring position, blasted in from close range.
The only replacement that Anchors made was the introduction of Phathu Netshifhefhe for Collen Magau. Mulalo Nevondo of Palace was trapped within the box and the referee awarded a penalty to the home side. Daniel Nemataheni converted it from the white spot.
The keeper of Anchors, Aluwani Makhavhu, was later red-carded for rough tackling. Crystal Palace were awarded with a floating trophy after the game. Palace and Blue Eagles will meet in the champ of champs match that will be played next month. The winner will gain promotion to the Solly's League.
