PRETORIA – Dynamos booked a place in the semi-finals of the SAA Supa 8 KO Competition, when they unexpectedly beat the much feared Supersport United 1-0 at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday.

United wasted numerous chances in the opening minutes. The players who made the United supporters shake their heads in disbelief were Abram Raselemane, Dennis Masena and Chris Mwamba. The Dynamos keeper, Aime Kitenge, took all the credit, as he saved what everybody thought were certain goals on countless occasions.

His acrobatic goalkeeping earned him the Man of the Match award. United defender, Phil Evans, fluffed a golden opportunity in the 8th minute, shooting straight into the hands of Kitenge, after beating the Dynamos' off-side trap. Kitenge palmed Evans's shot away for a corner kick, which the homeside also failed to convert into a goal.

Adam Ndlovu, the Dynamos Zimbabwean international, missed one of the easiest scoring opportunities when he aimlessly ballooned the ball, with the United keeper, Calvin Marlin, at his mercy. The 25th minute saw Kitenge saving another certain goal from the boot of Cavann Sibeko.

The Dynamos technical staff revealed their wisdom by introducing Joel Seroba for Samuel Baloyi in the second half. They later replaced Josam Ndou and Martin Carelse with Gerald Raphahlele and Thomas Ledingoane respectively.

United were denied what looked like a legitimate goal in the 55th minute, when Molefi Ntsoeleng headed home after Thando Mngomeni's well-taken corner kick. The two sides ended up tied at 0-0 after 90 minutes of regulated time. Adam Ndlovu scored Dynamos' golden goal nine minutes into extra time.
