Basel FC kept their title hopes alive by collecting the maximum points away from home last weekend. They beat Modimolle Aces 2-1 in their Safa Second Division League match at the Ephraim Mohale Stadium in Modimolle on Sunday.
The victory leaves Basel in the third position on the log with 32 points, five behind the leaders, Baroka FC. Velile Mdaka and Obua Malaka scored the two goals for Basel in the 14th and 26th minute respectively. Aces reduced the deficit by one through Joseph Leopa towards the end of the first half.
Nobela All Stars failed to impress their home crowd when they shared the spoils with Giyani Hotspurs at the Lesley Manyathela Stadium in Musina on Saturday. The final score was 1-1.
Rospa United lost 1-2 to Mighty FC, but the unexpected happened at the Makhado Eltivillas ground on Saturday. Phungo All Stars rose to the occasion and held the pace setters, Baroka FC, to a goalless draw.
Baroka are still leading the pack with 37 points. They are only one point ahead of Winners Park.
The Dolphins beat Lephalale Young Killers 2-1 at the Seshego Stadium.
Although they were the first to score, Magezi lost 1-4 to Winners Park at the Mahwelereng Stadium in Mokopane. Ray Pillars donated league points to Blue Rocks, following their 0-2 defeat at the Nkowannkowa Stadium in Tzaneen. Mosesetjane All Stars beat Baobab Zero Fake 1-0 at the Mahwelereng Stadium.
