THOHOYANDOU – Thohoyandou Stadium will be the centre of attention tomorrow. That is where the Premier's Bursary Trust Challenge Cup matches will be played.
Four teams, Black Leopards, Highlandspark Silver Stars, Dynamos and Ria Stars will take part in the tournament.
Highlandspark Silver Stars booked a place in the semi-final stage of the tournament after beating Pietersburg City Pillars in the preliminary round match that was played at the Nirvana Stadium last Friday. City Pillars were beaten 1-2 in that match.
According to the spokesperson of the Premier's Office, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who is also one of the organisers of the tournament, the gates will open at 07:00. Black Leopards and Dynamos will be the first to enter the field of play.
Their match is scheduled to kick off at 10:00. Highlandspark Silver Stars and Ria Stars will fight for a place in the finals in their match that is scheduled to kick off at 12:00.
The winners of the two matches will meet in the finals of the tournament at 16:00.
The champions of the tournament will go home with a cheque of R90 000. A cheque to the value of R50 000 is awaiting the team that will obtain the second position. Teams that will lose in the semi-final stage will each receive R30 000.
According to Ntshavheni, the funds that will be raised during the tournament will assist learners from underprivileged areas in the province. Ntshavheni revealed that the Premier's Bursary Trust Challenge will be an annual event.
