Univen FC managed to collect four league points over the past weekend. They played to a goalless draw with Rockers FC at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday before beating Ramukhuba United Brothers 2-1 at the Ramukhuba grounds the following day.
Their game against Rockers on Saturday was a thriller, despite the fact that no goal was seen. Rockers soon realized that it was not their day when their slender striker, Tsumbedzo Mamamela, shot wide with the Univen keeper already beaten.
The Univen midfielder, Eugene Mafukata, remained a live wire at a time when all his team mates were down and out. Mafukata was everywhere, extinguishing the Rockers’ fires from behind with his defending skills. Mulisa Tshivhi of Rockers was cautioned with a card for tackling Madilonga Mukwevho in a rough way.
Rockers effected one change to their starting 11 in the opening minutes of the last half. They replaced Andani Ndou with Emmanuel Neswiswi in bid to strengthen their midfield. Mashudu Siobo of Rockers caused an upset in the dying minutes of the game. He shot wide from the goal line, much to the disappointment of the team’s fans.
