Mashudu “Tlolo” Mashapha’s last-minute goal gave Rospa United a hard-earned victory over Modimolle Aces, whom they beat 2-1 in their Safa second division league match at the Univen Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The home side came close to scoring in the 17th minute when Ndumeliso Mabulele released from outside the box. The ball did not have enough power to beat the Aces' watchful keeper, Tyran Maake.

The wheel of fortune turned against United in the 24th minute. Their defender, James Maila, handled the ball within his own penalty area. That prompted the referee to award a penalty to the visitors. Simon Zitha converted from the white spot. Rospa United fought back in the 37th minute. They were also awarded a penalty after a defender of Aces, Silas Sebokwane, handled within the box. Marks Munyai scored to bring the half-time score to 1-1.

United introduced Ngelekanyo Mudau for James Maila earlier in the last half. The team’s captain, Mashudu Mashapha, was booked for an off-the-ball infringement on Eric Motau a little later.

United effected two more changes to their staring lineup. They replaced Hector Mothupi and Sbusiso Shabangu with Henry Motsie and Zanephi Methula respectively. A free kick in the last minute gave birth to United's winning goal, when Mashudu Mashapha headed home.
