GIYANI – The Greater Giyani Municipality has put aside an amount of R3 million for the upgrading of the Giyani Stadium.
This was revealed by the Municipal Manager, Mr Silence Makhubele, during the gala dinner of Dynamos Football Club that was held at the Giyani Community Hall last Friday.
He stated that by gaining promotion to the elite league, Dynamos had made not just his municipality proud, but the entire Lowveld area. During the ceremony the Managing Director of the team, Mr Pat Malabela, stated that as a club they would do everything within their power to ensure that they retain the status for years to come.
Some of the people who also delivered speeches during the ceremony included a representative of the Giyani business community, Mr Themba Maluleke, a member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature, Dr Alfred Nevhutanda and the manager of Munghana Lonene radio station, Mrs M Mbhalati.
During the ceremony several players of the team were presented with awards for their achievements during the past season. The player who showed the most improvement, David Mathebula, received a cash prize of R3 000 and a trophy. The same amount of money and a trophy went to Lifa Qosha, the most disciplined player, Paul Mabasa (the best goal scorer) and Soul Mmethi (best young player of the year).
The team's top goal scorer, Jacky Ledwaba, was given an amount of R5 000 and a trophy. The player who took the fattest cheque home was Phumlani Dindi. He was nominated the best player of the season and was given a cheque to the value of R10 000 and a trophy.
The coach, Mr Jacob Sakala, and his assistants, Ntsie Maphike, Baldwin Mahlale and Colly Chauke were also awarded with trophies.
The manager of Munghana Lonene, Mrs M Mbhalati, also presented several awards, including a certificate and a trophy to the Managing Director of the club, Mr Pat Malabela, as a token of appreciation for a job well done.
The Lamino Voices Choir and Buti Shigevenga entertained the guests during the ceremony.

He mainly writes sports reports and resides at Tsianda Village. In 2004, Frank won the National Castle League Award, an award for the best reporter in the SAB league in South Africa.
