Mbahe United Brothers managed to book a place in the next stage of the prestigious PIB MTG and Black Leopards KO competition when they beat Tshilonwe Young Bombers 5-4 at the Tshifudi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The match was played under protest. Young Bombers lodged a protest with the referee, Mr Mmboniseni Makhado, before the game started. In their protest, Bombers allege that a player of United Brothers, Thitevhelwi Nembilwi, was not properly registered with the team.

The teams’ captains, Tshimangadzo Magoba (United Brothers) and Tsumbedzo Mukhuba, were reprimanded with yellow cards when the game was 14 minutes old. Their sin was exchanging some bitter words in front of the referee.

The other player who went into the referee’s book before the end of the first half was Afunano Tshamano of United Brothers. He tackled Nnyimiseni Masikhwa illegally and the referee was lenient enough to let him go with yellow. Ntevhedzeni Nembilwi of United Brothers was also booked for faking an injury early in the last half.

The score board was still blank when the referee blew the final whistle and the winner had to be determined through a penalty shootout.

United Brothers scored five through Ntungufhadzeni Makhado, Fhatuwani Tshikuvhe, Ntevhedzeni Nembilwi, Tendani Ramphedeli and Takalani Rammbuda, while the four goals for Young Bombers came via Tsumbedzo Mukhuba, Fhumulani Mphanama, Nnyimiseni Masikhwa and Utendwa Matodzi.
