THOHOYANDOU – After playing to an embarrassing 4-4 draw with Dynamos Football Club from Zimbabwe two weeks ago, Black Leopards rectified their mistakes and walloped another foreign team, Desportivo Football Club from Mozambique, 4-1 in their international friendly match that was played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.
Unlike in their match against Dynamos FC, where they fielded a completely new team in the second half, Lidoda duvha fielded their strongest side from the onset to the bitter end. Japhta Mabosho, who was later replaced with the Leopards' new signee, Nhanlha Mathebula, in the second half, caused an upset nine minutes into the game. He shot wide after breaking loose from the righthand corner and hit the upright.
The homeside's first goal came in the 35th minute. Richard Lishivha finished on a rebound, after Mulondo Sikhwivhilu's attempt hit the woodwork and bounced back into the field of play. They held their lead until the end of the first half. Leopards introduced Nhlanhla Mathebula, Justice Sithole, Vusi Kharivhe and Nkhiphitheni Matombo for Japhta Mabosho, Wonder Nhleko, Thokozani Mnguni and Richard Lishivha respectively.
Mathebula found the net in the 55th minute, after receiving a neat pass from Christopher Netshidzivhe. Mulondo Sikhwivhilu was on target a minute later, following a move that was initiated by Vusi Kharivhe at the centre of the park. Leopards effected their last change, by replacing their number one goalkeeper, Walter Khumalo with Amon Phophi in the 70th minute. The Mozambicans reduced the deficit by one through Fernando Gnino, while Leopards' fourth goal came via Mulondo Sikhwivhilu.
