Makwarela Development Stars and Vondwe XI Bullets shared the spoils when they played to a 1-1 draw in their SAB League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors from Vondwe were the superiors when it came to possession of the ball in the first 20 minutes of the game.
The referee, Mr Dion Mphuma, flashed the first yellow card in the 14th minute. Gudani Ndou of XI Bullets was booked for pulling Musiiwa Magula's jersey. Bullets did not stop fighting, despite the fact that Ndou, who was their pillar of strength, was reprimanded with a card. Their fast forward, Mbuelo Radzilani, was brought down by the Stars’ keeper, Dzunisani Maluleke, in the 24th minute. That prompted the referee to award a penalty to Bullets. Vhutu Siebe scored from the penalty spot.
The home side managed to absorb the pressure from their opponents until the end of the first half. XI Bullets lost their original fighting spirit in the last half. Things turned against them in the 59th minute. Gudani Ndou was given his marching orders for kicking Revaldo Masindi intentionally.
XI Bullets replaced Hulisani Ramagoma with Khathutshelo Nedzamba moments thereafter. Development Stars responded by introducing Amukelani Chauke for Evans Netshituni.
XI Bullets started to play defensive football thereafter. They snatched the equaliser 12 minutes before the referee blew the final whistle. Akani Maluleke finished off a rebound after the Bullets’ keeper palmed the ball back into play, following Rotondwa Mpandeli’s long-range ground cutter.
