Mbaleni Happy Boys will not take part in the last-16 stage of the PIB MTG and Black Leopards KO competition. They were booted out of the competition by Phaphazela Real Hexagon, who beat them 8-7 at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Sunday.

Happy Boys looked more organised in the midfield, but their striking force continued to disappoint the fans by shooting aimlessly at the goal finish. Their front runner, Fhulufhelo Tshisikule, could not believe his eyes when his close-range volley missed the goal mouth by inches.

Happy Boys were the first to blow the trumpet. Their left flank, Thivhonali Netshivhambe, was brought down within the box and the referee was quick to award them a penalty. Given Mufamadi made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Real Hexagon strengthened their midfield by introducing Bongani Mabasa and sacrificing Matimba Chauke early in the last half. Given Mufamadi of Happy Boys was reprimanded with a card for kicking the keeper of Real Hexagon, Lodwick Mabasa, intentionally. Happy Boys replaced Godfrey Mulovhedzi with Mpho Ramuhashi moments thereafter.

A corner kick in the 78th minute gave rise to Real Hexagon's equalizing goal. A substitute, Bongani Mabasa, blasted in a rocket, following a scramble within the box.

Fhatuwani Tshitahe of Happy Boys was cautioned with a card for protesting against the referee’s decision in the 84th minute. The score was 1-1 when the full-time whistle was blown and the winner was determined through penalty shoot-out. Real Hexagon converted seven chances while Happy scored six from the spot.
