The second-division match between Phungo All Stars and Nobela All Stars at the Eltivillas ground on Saturday ended in a goalless draw.

Phungo missed countless scoring opportunities in the last 10 minutes of first half. Mashudu Tshitavha unleashed prematurely, instead of moving a few steps towards the keeper, Howard Ndlovu.

Nobela was strong at the far back and in terms of their strike force, but they lacked cohesion in the middle of the park.

Phungo enjoyed more ball possession, but their promising moves were turned into a nightmare, due to the rock-solid defence of Nobela.

Both sides used all their substitutions to strengthen their teams, but nobody was able to pierce the defence.  Nobela came close to scoring in the 56th minute, but Foster Hlungwani shot wide with only the keeper to beat.

Phungo’s defender, Tondani Nkhumeleni, sustained an injury and was replaced by Lucky Masutha. Rina Phaswana of Nobela left the field on a stretcher after he had also sustained an injury.

After the match, the coach of Nobela accused Referee Martin Sivhada of favouritism. According to reports received, he was also beaten after the match.
