THOHOYANDOU – By the departure of the former Black Leopards coach, Mr Gavin Hunt, he has given way to a Mozambican, Mr Arnaldo Jose Da Silva Salvado.

Hunt handed over a resignation letter to the management of the team three weeks ago.

The new coach was born in Quelimane town in Mozambique in 1959. He is a single parent, whose coaching career started in 1977 when he guided the U/15 of Mozambique, Academia Mozambique to several achievements.

He was appointed coach of the national U/17 and later the U/19 team. He was then appointed coach of the senior provincial team in 1983. In 1989 he was appointed the head coach of a First Division team, Costa do Sol.

Costa do Sol won several trophies, including the Super Cup of Mozambique and the National League championships under his guidance. The year 1995 saw him joining another First Division club, Ferroviario as the head coach.

He was the brain behind the success of the same team for the past seven years until he parted ways with them when he signed contract documents with Black Leopards early this week.

The managing director of the team, Mr David Thidiela revealed that they have signed a three-year contract with the new coach. Thidiela stated that he was convinced that they have employed the right man for the job adding that he had to select the new coach from fifteen applications that were at his disposal.

He further stated that they are still looking for the man who will work as Da Silva's assistant.
