Telkom Charity Cup - The struggle continues

GIYANI – The struggle is becoming fiercer by the day in the voting for the teams that should participate in the Telkom Charity Cup. The voting process started three weeks ago, shortly after the official launching ceremony of the competition was held in Johannesburg.

The Public Relations Officers of Dynamos and Black Leopards, Messrs Pastor Mafumo and Tshifhiwa Thidiela, have appealed to the fans of the respective clubs to cast their votes for their home clubs in their thousands. Mafumo stated that he was impressed by the manner in which the local residents were voting for the two Limpopo-based clubs.

The two domestic clubs have been leading the pack from the beginning of the voting process, with Black Leopards on top. The voting process will end at midnight on July 25. The four teams that will take part in the annual tournament will be announced shortly after the closing date.

The tournament will be staged at the Soccer City in Johannesburg on Saturday, August 2. The teams' vote line numbers are: African Wanderers (086 2233 800), Ajax Cape Town (086 2233 801), Black Leopards (086 2233 803), Bush Bucks (086 2233 802), Dynamos (086 2233 804), Golden Arrows (086 2233 808), Hellenic (086 2233 805), Jomo Cosmos (086 2233 806), Kaizer Chiefs (086 2233 807), Manning Rangers (086 2233 809), Moroka Swallows (086 2233 810), Orlando Pirates (086 2233 811), Santos FC (086 2233 812), Supersport United (086 2233 814), Sundowns FC (086 2233 813) and Wits University (086 223 3815).

Teams that took part in the tournament last season are Black Leopards, Moroka Swallows, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Black Leopards lost 5-6 to Kaizer Chiefs in the finals of the competition after beating Moroka Swallows 2-1 in the semi-finals.
