THOHOYANDOU – The Solly's League Promotional Play-off matches will start this weekend.
Two matches will be played at the Tshipakono grounds on Sunday. Lutomboni Fire Boys will take on Langutani Blue Birds at 13:00. The next match will be between Captain XI Football Club and BMS Finance Peace Makers. This match is scheduled to start at 15:00. The fact that there are fabulous cash prizes at stake in the promotional play-off matches is a reason on its own for people to expect high-class football in all the matches. Abino All Stars will be on bye.
The overall winner will take home a cash prize of R10 000 and a trophy. An amount of R7 000 is awaiting the team that will finish the play-off matches in second place. The third-placed team will take home an amount of R6 000. The next two teams on the log will become R5 500 and R5 000 richer respectively. In a statement that was issued by the Northern Province East Regional Football Association this week, they revealed that the champions of the Castle Regional League, Zwigodini Real Vikings, will be given an amount of R13 500 during the prize-giving ceremony that will be held in a few weeks' time.
Winnerspark Football Club, who finished the season in second place, will be given an amount of R9 000. The next three positions were claimed by Ruth Stars, Giyani United and Thulani All Stars. They will receive cash prizes ranging from R7 000, down to R4 750.
The statement indicates that Maindis Football Club, who are the champions for the Sanlam Halala League, will receive a cash prize of R8 000. Winnerspark Ladies Football Club finished in second position. They will get an amount of R7 000, while Foskor Callies will take home a cash prize of R6 000.
