The quarterfinal matches of the Boy Nemakonde KO Competition were played at the Tshifudi Stadium over the past weekend. Eight teams from Tshaulu and the surrounding villages took part in the competition.
All the teams are affiliated to Stream A of the Thulamela Local Football Association Super League.
The results of the matches are: Munangwe United Brothers 3, Tshaulu Sports Academy 1; Begwa United 4, Lukalo Hotspurs 2; Duvhuledza Flamingo 3, Tshaulu Ghetto Boys 5 and Tshaulu Powerline 6, Dimani Young Masters 1.
Both the semifinal matches final will be staged at the same venue tomorrow (Saturday). Tshaulu Powerlines will meet Tshaulu Ghetto Boys at 08:30. Munangwe United Brothers and Begwa United Brothers will test each other’s strength soon afterwards. The winners in the two matches will meet in the final, which is scheduled to start at 14:30.
The champions of the competition will become R3 000 richer and will also receive a floating trophy, soccer kit and five soccer balls. The runners-up will receive a soccer kit and five soccer balls. The remaining teams will receive consolation prizes of three soccer balls each.
The man of the match and top goal scorer of the tournament will each receive a sporting shopping voucher of R600. A local businessman, Mr Boy Nemakonde, is the sponsor of the competition.
Frank is a Human Resources Manager at the Department of Public Works in Limpopo. He is the longest serving correspondent of the Mirror, having joined us at the end of 1990. He mainly writes sports reports and resides at Tsianda Village. In 2004, Frank won the National Castle League Award, an award for the best reporter in the SAB league in South Africa.
