New kit for top five teams

Sport  Date: 11 July 2013

The top five teams in five districts of Limpopo who will participate in the Safa SAB promotional play-offs will play their matches in new kit.

The official handing over of the kit was held at Jan Furse in Sekhukhune last Thursday.

The two teams that end up in the top two positions will be promoted to the Safa Limpopo second division, known as the Vodacom league. The play-offs will take place at a later date.

During the handing over, SAB’s corporate affairs manager for the northern region, Ms Refentse Shinners, said SAB was a proud supporter of local football development and “we undertook this sponsorship primarily to showcase our support for the sport, because it will help us engage with the people of South Africa.”

She indicated that her company was ploughing back what it gained from the community. She said that Limpopo was a province rich in talent and "we have over the years seen some talented South African soccer players being unearthed from this province".

According to her, SAB was committed to local football development. SAB would like to continue to develop their relationship with the 52 regions of Safa, she added.

Mr Abel “The Lip” Rakoma of Safa Limpopo stated that the government could not curb the high rate of unemployment alone. He appealed to the business community to follow in the footsteps of SAB, saying sports had become a major employment provider of late. He defined football as a good vehicle to fight unemployment and poverty.

According to Mr Edwin Ramphabana of Joe Express, they are fully prepared for the league's heat. According to him, they have  talented players in Thembisani Neluvhada, Lenock Mabila, and Dakalo Ratshitanga.
