MAKWARELA - The community of Makwarela recently formed a structure, the Sports and Dynamic and Guidance Center, in order to look after the youth.

Under a theme called "Let the community of Makwarela play in different sporting codes," this structure is going to provide a platform where the community of Makwarela, especially the youth, can have access to the sporting code they prefer, including traditional dances.

The sporting codes are, soccer, cricket, volleyball, netball, rugby, tennis, snooker, chess, ballroom dance, karate, baseball, wrestling, debate, athletics, boxing, drama, jive, choral music, modelling, lady soccer and traditional dances like tshikona, malende, tshigombela, mufuvha, muravharavha and others.

A community leader, Mr Alfred Nevhutamna, said they decided to form this structure to make sure that the youth are kept busy with something they can enjoy. This can also help them identify talents that can help them make a living, like Philip Ndou and Phathutshedzo Nemukongwe.

Nevhutamba said they realised that many of the young people in the area were involved in crime, as well as alcohol and drug abuse, because of a lack of entertainment.
