Young Boys too bright for Mighty Mangos

Tshilulu Mighty Mangos will not participate in the semifinal stage of the Mulindavhathu Soccer Challenge.

They were booted out of the prestigious competition by Tshibvumo Young Stars 4-2 at the Khubvi Benjies grounds on Saturday.

As if they were going to teach Young Stars a soccer lesson, Mighty Mangos opened their account seven minutes into the game. Hulisani Netshiomwani blasted in a rocket after a rebound.

Young Stars, however, did not panic. They continued to play like a unit, creating dangerous passes from behind and making things difficult for the opponents. Stars retaliated in the 20th minute. Pfunzo Tshikotshi went loose from the left flank and unleashed a half-volley too hot for the Mangos keeper, Emmanuel Mbedzi, to handle.

Young Stars took the lead moments thereafter. Mutshidzi Tshilande was on target, following a neat pass by Elijah Netili.  Mangos regrouped from behind in their search for the equaliser. Their efforts paid off when Hulisani Netshiomvani hooked in a loose ball after a scramble within the box.

Mangos did not have enough time to celebrate their goal. Their celebrations were cut short as Stars took the lead again in the 39th minute. Pfunzo Tshikotshi beat the keeper with a ground cutter to bring the half-time score to 3-2.

Meshack Ramafamba scored the fourth goal for Stars in the 78th minute with a header. Mangos were awarded a penalty four minutes before the final whistle. Thihanedzwi Mbedzi caused an upset by shooting wide from the penalty spot.
