Muziafera Blue Eagles were crowned the champions of the Vuwani Soccer Tournament last Sunday. The tournament was staged at the Vuwani Mandani grounds.
Four teams, Muziafera Blue Eagles, Tshiphuseni All Stars, Bofulamato United and Mutandani Pull Together, took part in the one-day event.
The first semifinal saw Bofulamato United beating Tshiphuseni All Stars 5-4 after a penalty shoot-out. The full time score was 1-1.
The unexpected happened in the second semifinal between Mutandani Pull Together and Muziafera Blue Eagles. No goal was seen during the first 45 minutes. The wheel of fortune turned against Pull Together in the last half. Happy Mahuntsi scored the opening goal for Blue Eagles. What followed thereafter was one-way traffic, with Pull Together trying to manage the disaster and at the end it was 6-0 for the unstoppable Eagles.
Muziafera Blue Eagles did not find it easy in the final. They fought hard for their 1-0 victory against Bofulamato United, despite the fact that United lost two of their players through red cards later in the game.
Blue Eagles were presented with a cash prize of R1 100 during a ceremony that was held at the grounds after the final. Bofulamato United took home R700.
