Makhitha Oscar Stars won the Spring tournament when they beat Madombidzha Arsenal in a penalty shoot-out at Madombidzha on Sunday.
At the end of regulation time, the score was 1-1, and after the penaltty shoot-out, the score was 5-4 in favour of Stars.
Stars was strong at the far back and in the striking force department, but they lacked cohension in the middle of the park. The balls that threatened the defence of Arsenal were ballooned from behind .
Godwin Mahuwa of Stars was booked for dirty tricks. Arsenal enjoyed more ball possession, but their promising moves were turned into nothing by the rock-solid defence of Stars. No goal was seen during the first half. Arsenal made a substitution in the last half. They introduced Balanganai Mafela for Tshepo Ranku.
The home team scored in the 67th minute through Daklo Nwanamindwa, after the keeper of their opponents misjudged the ball. Deshin Monyeleote equalised three minutes later, after he caught the Arsenal keeper off guard and blasted in a half volley from inside the box.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter.
