Lukau Football Club are still celebrating, after they were crowned the champions for the Mutavhatsindi Great Lodge KO competition last weekend.
They beat Maheni Devoted Boys 3-2 in the final of the competition at the Phalama grounds on Sunday.
The winner was determined through penalty shoot-out, as the score was 1-1 when the referee blew the final whistle. Hot Aces managed to convert two of their five chances while Devoted Boys scored one from the white spot. Lukau beat the favourites, Mulodi Freedom Birds, 2-0 in the semifinal stage of the competition at the same venue earlier that day.
Devoted Boys’ road to the final went via Mafukane FC, whom they crushed 3-0 in the semifinal.
Lukau FC were presented with a cash prize of R3 000 during a ceremony that was held at the grounds shortly after the final. Maheni Devoted Boys took home a cash prize of R2 000.
Teams that were booted out of the competition in the semifinal stage, Mafukane FC and Mulodi Freedom Birds, were each presented with cheques to the value of R750. The results of the quarterfinal matches are: Lukau FC 4, Tshibvumo Young Stars 2; Mafukane FC 2, Musasenda Big Five 0; Mulodi Freedom Birds 4, Thengwe Flying Peace 0 and Maheni Devoted Boys 3, Khubvi Dangerous Darkies 0.
