Dynamos too strong for Spartak

Sport  Date: 17 May 2002

GIYANI – Dynamos continued to pave their way up by thrashing Spartak Football Club 4-1 in their Premier First Division League fixture at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday. The visiting side were dictating the terms in all departments for the better part of the game.

The Giyani outfit blew the trumpet in the 29th minute. Jacky Ledwaba floated the high ball inside the box from where their Zambian midfielder, Sandras Kamwenda nodded it home. Spartak refused to admit that Dynamos were their superiors and responded three minutes thereafter through Emmanuel Tshabalala.

Things turned against the homeside early in the second half, with the introduction of Andries Sebola for Lucas Maleka in the Dynamos team. Sebola, the former Orlando Pirates and Mahwelereng Real Rovers goalpoacher was on target in the 54th minute. He received a beautiful pass from Soul Mmethi and sent in a shot that was too hot for the Spartak keeper to handle.

That was Sebola's second goal since he joined Dynamos early last month. That was the turning point of the game as Spartak were down and out in the remaining minutes.

The third goal was scored by Jacky Ledwaba. He headed home a volley from Andries Sebola. Dynamos were unlucky not to score more than five goals as they missed numerous chances during the last stage. Their fourth goal came in the 84th minute via George Ramphela.
