Dynamos to start new season with a bang

Sport  Date: 02 July 2004

GIYANI - The fixtures list for the Premier Soccer League 2004/5 soccer season was released this week, despite the fact that there might not be enough referees to officiate at the games, following the arrest of several top referees in the police’s Operation Dribble.

The pride of Giyani, Dynamos Football Club, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, will commence the new season with a bang. Their first match will be played on their own home soil on Saturday, August 7. Although they will be playing in front of their home crowd, Dynamos will find it difficult to collect points from the match.

They have never beaten Kaizer Chiefs. Their most recent result was a 0-1 defeat that they suffered at home. The Public Relations Officer of Dynamos, Pastor Mafumo, has stated that they will be a force to reckon with, come the new season.

The match will start at 15:00 and will be shown live on television. The other match that will be played on the same day will be between Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos Football Club. This one will be played at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

Three matches will be played the following day, Sunday, August 8. Black Leopards, who finished their programme last season in the 8th position, will travel all the way to Bloemfontein. Their first fixture will be against the newly promoted Bloemfonten Celtic and will be played at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.

Moroka Swallows Football Club will enjoy the home ground advantage as they will host Ajax Cape Town Football Club at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg. Highlandspark Silver Stars will fight for league points against the rookies, Bush Bucks Football Club, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
