THOHOYANDOU - Black Leopards completed their league programme last weekend. They lost 0-2 to the much-improved Wits University FC at the Milpark Stadium on Saturday night. The result of that match leaves Leopards in seventh position on the log with 49 points.
If the current league log were the final one, the Thohoyandou outfit would be among the teams that would participate in the BP Top 8 KO competition next season. Two teams, Kaizer Chiefs and Wits University stand a chance of taking the Leopards' place in the competition.
Leopards' fate in the prestigious competition is dependant on the result of the match between Orlando Pirates and Wits University. It will be played at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg next Tuesday, May 7, starting at 20:00. Should Pirates win or hold the Clever Students to a draw, Leopards will be sure of a place in the BP top 8. The match will be shown live on television.
In the other Castle Premiership League matches Orlando Pirates will play against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg tomorrow.
Three matches will be played at different venues on Sunday. Supersport United will entertain Ria Stars at the Caledonian Stadium in Pretoria. Ajax Cape Town will take on the league champions, Sanlam Santos at the Newlands Stadium. Jomo Cosmos will have a date with Mamelodi Sundowns at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Mpumalanga.
