Some of the Soutpansberg’s adventurous cyclists took on the Simpson Motors Phalaborwa Cross Country Mountain Bike Race over the past weekend, and clinched podium victories.
In the junior men's category, the podium was dominated by local cyclists. CP van Wyk, cycling for Team PSG Cyling, took first place, with team mate Christiaan Roos second and Marco Roets third. Their fastest laps were respectively 00:15:01.635, 00:15:57.949 and 00:18:37.624 over four laps.
Another local cyclist who stood on the podium was Nico Geldenhuys. He took second place in the men’s sub- veteran category. His fastest lap time was 00:16:15.991.
Afterwards, there was also the Noon-to-Moon cross country race for teams. CP and Christiaan from Team PSG once again took top honours, when they completed their total laps in a time of 05:56:10.943.The second place was won by the team of Stanley Thompson in a time of 05:57:59.634.
Isabel joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in 2009 as a reporter. She holds a BA Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of South Africa. Her beat is mainly crime and court reporting.
