Fighting Baroka FC donate points to Jomo Cosmos

Sport  Date: 31 October 2013

After collecting maximum league points away from home two weeks ago, Baroka FC failed to impress their home fans last Saturday. They lost to Jomo Cosmos at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

A brilliant goal by Edwin Skhosana nine minutes into the game was good enough to give Cosmos their first victory for the season.

Baroka did not give in without a fight. They threw everything within their reach throughout the second half in a desperate search for the equalizer.

Black Leopards have reason to raise their thumbs. Not only did they manage to deposit the full points into their league account at the expense of Vasco da Gama last Saturday, but they also collected four goals away from home. Although they were playing in front of their home crowd, Da Gama lost 1-4 to the resurrected Black Leopards at the Parow Park Stadium.

Lidoda Duvha moved a step up on the log, following the victory. They are now in the 12th position, with seven points accumulated from seven matches.

In their tit-for-tat game at the Charles Mopedi Stadium at Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State, African Warriors shared the spoils with Roses United. Roses were leading 2-0 at some stage but the final score was 2-2.

FC Cape Town continued to give away much-needed points. They drew 1-1 with Witbank Spurs at the Themba Senamela Stadium in Witbank. FC Cape Town are languishing at the bottom of the log with three points.

Santos had nobody else to blame except themselves for sharing the glory with Milano United FC. They squandered numerous obvious scoring chances throughout the game, failing to punish the erratic defence of Milano and at the end it was a goalless draw.

United FC went back home with a point in hand. They played to a goalless draw with Blackburn Rovers at the Gelvandale Stadium in Port Elizabeth. Chippa United fought hard for their 2-0 victory over Sivutsa Stars at the Philipi Stadium in Cape Town, while Thanda Royal Zulu lost 0-1 to Maluti FET College at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.
