Last weekend saw one of the Vhembe-based Sasol Women’s League sides, Chippas Ladies, blow hot and cold. They travelled to Polokwane on Saturday where they fought for points with the Kanatla Ladies at the Seshego Stadium.
Chippas did not respond when the hosts scored four beautiful goals via Lydia Seema, Gladys Maake, Sarak Hlaole and Faith Mamorobela.
Chippas rectified their mistakes and collected the maximum league points the following day. They played against Re Tla Dira FC, whom they beat 4-0 at the Dipitsi grounds in Senwabarwana to restore their lost pride and boost morale for future matches.
Chippas will host Kanatla Ladies in their deciding match at the Makwarela Stadium tomorrow afternoon. A victory for Chippas will be enough to make them the league champions.
During the weekend, Queens FC were the hardest hit. They were brutally walloped 0-6 by Maindis FC at the Nirvana Stadium in Polokwane. Development Ladies suffered a 0-5 drubbing at the hands of Sisters Professional Ladies at the Nwamitwa Grounds in Tzaneen.
The match between Shayandima Morning Stars and Development Ladies, which was supposed to have been played at the Shayandima open grounds, did not take place. Morning Stars waited in vain for the arrival of Development Ladies and they finally dispersed after the scheduled 15:00 kickoff time. According to the statement from the league, the match has been declared a walk-over for Morning Stars.
Another match which was declared a walk-over was between University of Limpopo and Sekhukhune Brazilians, which was supposed to have been played at the University of Limpopo Stadium. The University of Limpopo were given free points after Sekhukhune Brazilians failed to show up.
Bakone Ladies used their home ground advantage to collect the full points at the expense of Re Tla Dira Ladies. They beat them 3-0 at the Mankweng Zone C ground. As if that was not enough to stir up the team’s fans, Re Tla Dira were beaten 0-4 by Chippas Ladies the following day.
Modimolle Ladies donated points to Mphanama Ladies following their 0-3 defeat at the Mphanama grounds.
