Modimole Aces were too strong for Phungo All Stars and beat them 2-1 in a Safa Second Division match played at the Eltivillas grounds on Sunday.

Both sides played attacking football in the first half. Stars had their first regret in the early minutes. Lloyd Davhana fumbled at the goal finish after beating the offside trap.Stars enjoyed more ball possession, but their promising moves were turned into a disappointment by the solid defence of Aces.

Marks Munyai of the home team opened the scoring when he beat the offside trap and scored easily. A few minutes later, keeper Langa Gogo misdjuged the flight of the ball and saw the ball hit the net.

The boys from Modimole pressed hard in search of the winning goal, but realized that their chances were slim. The visitors abandoned their positions and packed themselves at the far back. Simon Maseko scored the winning goal of his team in the 80th minute after he had received a well-cooked pass from Tsepo Selamolela.
