THOHOYANDOU – Not only did Black Leopards collect full marks from their home match against Bush Bucks, but they also registered a historic score, when they thrashed them 7-1 in a one-sided Castle Premiership League at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
The team from Eastern Cape could have conceded more than a dozen goals had it not been for the fact that the homeside had squandered many of their opportunities. Gavin Hunt, the Leopards' coach was forced to effect an early change to his starting line-up when he replaced the injured Stanely Sibeko with Mulondo Sikhwivhilu in the 14th minute.
Christopher Netshidzivhe caused an upset when he hit the upright with the Bucks' keeper, Vusumzi Yashe well beaten in the 16th minute. Leopards broke the deadlock when Donald Mulaudzi received a back pass from Rudzani Ramudzuli.
The Thohoyandou lads increased the tally in the 44th minute when Rudzani Ramudzuli tapped in the ball after a scramble within the Bucks' penalty box. Donald Mulaudzi completed his brace a minute later, bringing the half-time score to 3-0.
Sikhwivhilu went loose from what was arguably an offside position and sent Yashe the wrong way. The fifth was scored by Sbusiso Dlamini, who dispossessed the Bucks sweeper of the ball and ran straight to the keeper who suffered the pain of watching the ball going beyond his reach.
The sixth goal was an honour to Rudzani Ramudzuli, who hooked in a loose ball, following a corner kick that was taken by Dlamini. The final goal for Leopards came two minutes before full time via Sikhwivhilu.
Shaun Haschick netted Imbabala's solitary goal during additional time awarded by the referee.
