The provincial Nedbank Cup semifinals and the final will be played at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen tomorrow.
Great North FC and Modimolle Aces will meet in the first semifinal, which is scheduled for 09:00. Great North beat Magezi FC 2-1 and Ray Pillars 1-0 to book a place in the semifinal stage of the prestigious competition.
Modimolle Aces’ way to the semis went via Winners Park, whom they crushed 5-4 in the opening match, and Lephalale Young Killers, whom they narrowly beat 1-0. Joe’s Express and Blue Rocks will follow at 11:00.
Express’s way to the semifinal was rocky and thorny. They beat Rospa United 2-1 and later Phungo All Stars 2-0 at the Makwarela Stadium two weeks ago.
Joe’s Express and Blue Rocks will be meeting for the second time within a space of seven days. They played against each other in a league match at the same venue last Saturday. That is where Joe’s Express lost 1-2. The team’s head coach, Mr Edwin “Cafu” Ramphabana, is optimistic that they will exact sweet revenge tomorrow.
Ramphabana revealed that they lost to the worse side due to their own silly mistakes last Saturday and that Blue Rocks will see the best of Joe’s Express tomorrow. According to Mr Ramphabana, their skillful right back and captain, Lucas Mashau, will be available for selection tomorrow. Mashau sustained an injury in their game against Phungo All Stars two weeks ago.
The defence of Blue Rocks must keep a watchful eye on Express's killer strikers, Thembisani Nevhulamba and Rendani “Zebe”Madega. Neither Madega nor Nevhulamba scored in their league match against Blue Rocks last Saturday, but a midfielder, Solly Noko, scored the team’s solitary goal. The winner between Joe’s Express and Blue Rocks will meet the winner of the match between Modimolle Aces and Great North FC later in the afternoon.
