Boxing extravaganza for Thohoyandou

THOHOYANDOU - Tshiawelo Boxing Promotions will stage a professional boxing tournament next Saturday, April 20. The tournament will be staged at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre, starting at 14:00.

According to one of the organisers of the tournament, Mr Ephraim Simba, nine bouts will take place during the tournament. The opening fight will be between Nkosinathi Tshinavhe and Themba Masha. They are both based in this province and their junior featherweight fight is scheduled over four rounds.

Nyiko Zitha and Norman Mashabela will test each other’s strength in their flyweight division fight thereafter. Zitha is a product of the Limpopo province, while Mashabela originates from Mpumalanga.

Nthumeni Matumba will fight against the Gauteng-based Reuben Noge in their junior heavyweight fight. Their fight will last for four rounds if fought to the finish.

Arrie Lunds will take on Oupa Mahlangu in their junior middleweight fight that is also scheduled for four rounds. Sabata Serutla of Gauteng will entertain Martin Manthatha. Their welterweight fight will last for four rounds.

It will be followed by the bout between Avhashoni Mbedzi and Nelson Mbaku. This bout falls under the junior welterweight division and will be fought over four rounds.

Tshifhiwa Matambule and Peter Magadi will then meet in a junior featherweight fight. Ntshengedzeni Netshivhera and Molefatsane Modise will fight in their main supporting bout. This bout is a super middleweight class fight and will last for six rounds.

The main bout will be between Michael Baloyi from this province and John Mathebula from Mpumalanga.
