Local soccer fans will be flooding the Makwarela Stadium tomorrow afternoon for the eagerly awaited Vhembe derby between the newly promoted Joe’s Express FC and Basel FC.
Basel are still to win a league match this season after losing their first two matches. Joe’s Express are still in mourning after their 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Blue Rocks in their Nedbank Cup KO match at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen last Saturday.
A quick glance at their match against The Dolphins at the same venue two weeks ago reveals that Basel have a scoring problem, despite the fact that they played entertaining football. The coach of Express, Mr Edwin Ramphabana, said that their focus was now on the league title. He indicated that they had put Saturday’s defeat behind them. The scheduled kick off time is 13:00.
Another derby will be staged at the same venue starting at 15:00. The newly promoted Bellevue Winners Park will fight for the league points with Dynamos. It will be time for Dynamos to exact revenge for the 0-5 defeat they suffered at the hands of the same team in their Nedbank preliminary match three weeks ago.
On other matches, Giyani Hotspurs will rub shoulders with Winners Park at the Giyani Stadium and The Dolphins will meet Ray Pillars at Seshego. The Dolphins are still to lose a league match this season and for that reason Ray Pillars must be ready for war.
Phungo All Stars will host Blue Rocks at the Makhado Eltivillas grounds. Blue Rocks are sharpened to kill after crushing Joe’s Express 6-2 in their Nedbank Cup KO match at the Nkowankowa Stadium last Saturday. Lephalale Young Killers and Modimolle Aces will battle it out for league points at the Mogol Stadium in Lephalale.
Great North FC and Magezi FC will meet at the Seshego Stadium on Sunday.
