In their SAB League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Sunday, Rockers FC beat Tswinga Peace Makers 4-1.
As if they were hypnotized, Peace Makers were down and out in the first 20 minutes of the game. They conceded the first goal two minutes into the game. The Rockers’ slender striker, Emmanuel Neswiswi, blasted in a rocket from close range. He capitalized on the Peace Makers’ clearing error.
Rockers nearly increased the margin in the eighth minute, but Mpho Mathivha was unlucky. He received a beautiful pass from Mashudu Siobo just outside the box before suffering the pain of watching his volley go a little wide. It was in the 14th minute when Rockers increased the margin. Emmanuel Neswiswi beat the keeper with a half volley, following a corner kick by Vusani Mmbara.
Pressure continued to mount on the defence of Peace Makers and their keeper, Lavhelesani Ndou, advanced out of the penalty area from where he handled the ball after failing to clear it. That was reason enough to the referee to reprimand him with a card.
The keeper of Peace Makers caused an upset in the 24th minute. He mishandled the ball next to the goal line and Pfarelo Lifhiga, who was on the alert nearby, made no mistake. The home side continued to dominate proceedings, with Peace Makers chasing the action. The score was 4-0 when the teams adjourned for the half-time break. Their fourth goal came nine minutes before the half-time whistle. Emmanuel Neswiswi was on target again after beating the offside trap.
Peace Makers were more organised in the last half. Their solitary goal came in the 64th minute. Lufuno Ramudzuli headed home, following a corner kick that was taken by Takalani Mushidzhi.
