DURBAN – Lamontville Golden Arrows kept their winning streak alive by beating the ten-men Black Leopards 2-1 in their Castle Premiership League game at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
The match was poorly attended, probably because of the unbearable Kwazulu-Natal heat. Leopards showed more determination in the opening minutes and took the game to the home side. Sheldon Roux, the Arrows' defender, made a blunder when he failed to clear the ball from his danger area, but Richard Lishivha caused an upset when he failed to capitalise on the setback.
The Leopards' keeper, Conrad Hendricks, made his presence felt when he denied Jayson Lackay a certain goal. The first player to go into the referee's book was Christopher Netshidzivhe of Black Leopards. He tackled Daniel Tlageng illegally in the 27th minute.
Three minutes later, Tlageng initiated a move that finally gave Arrows a goal through Jayson Lackay. Things turned against the Thohoyandou outfit when their midfielder, Wanani Mulaudzi, was sent off for a bad tackle on Lackay two minutes before break.
Jacob Tshisevhe finished off Richard Lishivha's header with a bicycle kick in the 60th minute to bring the score to 1-1. Leopards were unlucky not to score, when Sbusiso Dlamini forced his way through the defence of Arrows and his goal shot went astray.
The winning goal for Arrows came in the 79th minute. Bonang Ngaka gave the ball the final touch.
