Phakhamani Mahlambi of the School of Excellence scored a hat trick when his team hammered Benny's Care 4-0 in the final of the national Metropolitain U/16 tournament at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday.
The School of Excellence took the game to their opponents from the first whistle. It took them only five minutes to stamp their authority on the game when their speedy forward, Phakamani Mahlambi, was on target, following a square pass by Katlego More.
About 20 minutes later, he scored his second when he found the net with a header after a rebound.
Ronewa Baloyi of Benny's was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Tshepo Lebothe from behind and was lucky not to see red.
Mahlambi coplete his hat trick six minutes before half time. Benny's lost hope after Rotshidzwa Tshiluka missed a sitter when he had only the keeper to beat. The keeper of Benny's, Dennis Madire, received high acclaim when he saved a penalty after a team mate had brought down Tshilogo Makone.
Sibusiso Ngwenya forced his way through the defence of Benny's and scored the fourth goal late in the game.
