The coach of Benny's Care Development, Mr Justice Motloga, believes they lost to a better side in the final of the Metropolitan U/16 tournament at Seshego on Saturday.
Benny's lost 0-4 to the Transnet School of Excellence.
"We made a few mistakes that you pay for at this level,” Matloga said after the match. “But, let's give all the boys a pat on the back, because they did so well. We worked for each other, but we were up against a team that was just too good," he added.
He said that he was happy that they had reached the final of the tournament for the first time. He mentioned that the tournament was in honour of a former player, Andani Kutama, who died during a match in Durban last year.
The Transnet School of Excellence went home with R50 000, gold medals and a floating trophy. Benny's Care received R30 000 and silver medals.
Matloga was named coach of the tournament and he received a trophy. The Andani golden boot award and player of the tournament went to Phakamni Mahlambi of Transnet School of Excellence.
