Ramukhuba Young Brothers came back from a 0-2 half-time deficit to hold Tshakhuma RO United to a 2-2 draw in their SAB League match at Ramukhuba on Sunday.
The hosts were out of touch in the first 30 minutes. At that stage, the visitors were dictating terms in all departments. In the 12th minute United threatened to score. Their right flank, Asivhanzhi Muthubi, could not believe his eyes when his half-volley hit the woodwork and bounced outside the field of play for a goal kick. As if that was not enough to stir up the team’s fans, Lufuno “CJ” Mugodi caused another upset moments thereafter. Mugodi received a neat pass from Mulisa Luvhengo and shot wide from the edge of the box.
RO rectified their mistakes and opened their account in the 28th minute. Mulisa Luvhengo unleashed a powerful shot from the 25-meter area. The keeper of Young Brothers, Mukondi Sandani, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.
The goal was a morale booster to the players of RO United. They demonstrated that in the 38th minute. The team’s captain, Obrey Raluzwidzo, caught the keeper napping and blasted in a ground cutter from the left corner to bring the half-time score to 2-0.
Tshakhuma RO could have increased the margin in the 55th minute. Nndwamato Miriri, who came on as a substitute, went loose from the centre of the pitch and hesitated for too long to unleash until he lost possession.
The wheel of fortune turned against the visiting side soon afterwards. Brothers’ bulldozer striker, Tshimangadzo “Sekgolela” Ramuhashi, found the net with a header, following a square pass from Raymond Nekhumbe. RO United lost shape in the middle of park soon after the goal. Ramuhashi scored again in the 79th minute. The captain of United, Obrey Raluzwidzo, missed a fortune in the dying minutes. He shot wide from inside the box.
