Huge prizes in Zama Zama challenge

Fabulous prizes are awaiting teams that will perform above all others in the Zama Zama Soccer Challenge tournament. The ceremony to launch the annual event was held at the Giyani Community Hall last Saturday.

The tournament is being staged at the Giyani Homu 14 B KYD grounds. The first matches for the tournament were played on Tuesday.

Thirty-two teams will take part in this year’s tournament. The teams that will battle it out for the championships are Manombe FC, Mighty Barcelona, Mavalani Boys, Va-Sweki Development FC, Homu Manchester, Fighters FC, Magoro Samba, Golden City, Real Madrid, GY All Stars, KYD FC, Mapuve All Stars, Juluka FC, Arsenal,  Makhosani FC, Gawula Movers, Bode River Bank, Mninginisi Citizens, Vasco da Gama, Super Eagles, Dzekula Masters, Limpopo Poison FC, Jackson Young Stars,  Lombard FC, Chelsea FC, Wonderboys FC, Nkomo EFF, Real Barcelona, Nkuri XI Experience, Liverpool FC, Mhlahlandlela FC and the defending champions, Mbhoni Junior Chiefs.

Mbhoni Junior Chiefs are currently leading Stream A of the Mopani SAB Regional League.

The champions of the tournament will receive R10 000, a soccer kit and gold medals. R5 000 and silver medals await the second-placed team. The third- and fourth-placed teams will each take home R2 500.

Individual awards will be presented to the tournament’s top goal scorer, best player, best goalkeeper, best coach and the best referee in the tournament. The final will be staged at the same venue on Tuesday, December 31.
