Sixteen teams will participate in the forthcoming Sinthumule/Kutama Community Sport Development's D Magwala Soccer Challenge.

The tournament will take place on 25, 26 and 29 December and on 1 January at the Ravele Dragons grounds.

The sponsor of the tournament, Dr Phumudzo Machaka, has indicated that his company is ploughing back what it gained from the community. “It is through the support from the community that his business is where it is today,” he added. He also congratulated Sinthumule/Kutama Community Sport Development for developing the talent of the youth around the area.

The managing director of Tanganani Driving School, Mr Mashudu Mufamadi, said sport had the power to create a good climate between business and people. "No wonder companies which sponsor football are going from strength to strength," he added.

Mr Elvis “Parks” Phathela, public relations officer of Sinthumule/Kutama Community Sport Development, stated that it was important that future stars' talent be identified at grassroots level. He applauded the sponsors for helping to identify the talent of the region's youth and added that the youth of this region should be proud of their talent.

The tournament aims to honour Mr Daniel Magwala, former president of Safa Northern Province (west region), for his dedication. The winner of the competition will receive R3 000, a floating trophy, new soccer kit and medals, while the runner-up will receive R2 000, a soccer kit and silver medals.
