BELLEVUE – It's now official: Winnerspark Football Club are the champions for the Limpopo Stream of the Vodacom Promotional League. They finished their league programme with 79 points, accumulated from 30 matches.
They still have to play the promotional play-off matches in order determine the two teams that will be promoted to the Premier First Division. The matches will be played in Port Elizabeth from May 13 to 18. Winnerspark will know who their opponents are to be early next week.
According to the coach of the team, Mr Colly Chauke, their success is attributed to the commitment amongst the players and the management. "There was team work amongst the players, management and the technical staff and that made my job easier throughout the long season," said Chauke.
According to Chauke they signed five players from the Vodacom Promotional League clubs before the due date for the registration of players, February 28. This was done to ensure that they have a strong team that will stand the test of time when they go to the play-off matches in six weeks' time.
Chauke thanked the managing director of Black Leopards Football Club, Mr David Thidiela for releasing the killer-striker, Collins Chabalala, to his team. Chabalala is the top goal scorer of Winnerspark FC.
Chauke stated that they would play seven friendly matches before going for the play-off matches. He also revealed that they were to leave for Port Elizabeth a week earlier in order to acclimatize properly down there.
